     The grocery store

Croatian products still have an authentic taste today, as if we were taking a leap into the past. Dalmatinski pršut (smoked ham from Dalmatia), itarski pršut (Istrian ham), Kulen (dried sausage from eastern Croatia).

-Ajvar (originally from Serbia) is a condiment made from red pepper oil, chili pepper, garlic and sometimes tomatoes.

-Vegeta is a spice that contains several dried vegetables (carrot, parsnip, onion, celery, parsley spices, corn).

-Svinjska mast is pork fat, more commonly known to us as “Lard”. Most of the monounsaturated fatty acids in lard are oleic acid, a healthy fatty acid that benefits the heart and is associated with lower levels of bad cholesterol. There is twice as much oleic acid in lard as in   butter. Pork fat has a high boiling point and is suitable for frying foods.

-Istrian Truffles (Tartuf crni, Tartuf bjeli) renowned for their qualities and tastes, in Istria truffles are everywhere, there is truffle butter, truffle olive oil, truffle paté, truffle sausage etc...

-Pinđur is a condiment with the same ingredients as ajvar except there are pieces of pepper.

-Ljutenica is like ajvar but is spicier.

So above all, don’t deprive yourself of this culinary experience!
